SASSA status check 2026

Use official SASSA channels first. This page explains every common method, what each status usually means, and how SRD differs from other grants. Last verified: July 2026.

Official ways to check status

1. SRD online: srd.sassa.gov.za - enter your 13-digit ID and registered cellphone.
2. WhatsApp: send Status to 082 046 8553 and follow the prompts.
3. USSD (no data): dial *134*7737# from your registered number.
4. Phone: call 0800 60 10 11 (toll-free, weekdays).
5. Other social grants: use services.sassa.gov.za or visit a SASSA office with your ID.

SRD vs other grants

SRD (R370) status is checked on the SRD portal. Older Persons, Disability, and Child Support status is handled through main SASSA services and offices, not only the SRD site.

Common status meanings

• Approved - you qualified for the period shown; payment still follows the schedule.
• Pending - SASSA is still verifying details or means tests.
• Declined / means test failed - income or database checks failed; ask about reconsideration timelines.
• Bank Details Pending - update banking details on the official portal.
• Verification / eKYC - complete SMS PIN and name checks exactly as on your ID.
