Foster Child Grant, 2026 guide

Who qualifies for the Foster Child Grant, the court order rule, what to bring to SASSA, and when it is paid each month.

Amount (from April 2026): R1,290 per month, paid in the children's grants batch each month.

The Foster Child Grant is paid to a foster parent entrusted with a child by a court. Applications need your ID, the child's birth certificate, and the court order placing the child in your care. The grant follows the court placement period, so extensions and terminations must be reported to SASSA with the new paperwork.
